Recipe : Strawberries & Cream Bar's

Recipe : Strawberries & Cream Bar's

I decided earlier today that I wanted to make something with the berries sitting alone in my fridge. Make them into something amazing, I said to myself. After hours of pondering and flipping through cookbooks stored in my mind. I concocted the following creation. All of the ingredients needed are listed below.

Strawberries and Cream Bars

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups diced or chopped strawberries

2 cups sugar

1/2 cup water

1 cup whole milk

2 tsp vanilla

Tools

Large metal bowl

Saucepan

Spoon

Popsicle Mold

Popsicle mold's come in tons of shapes, materials and sizes. Choose one that you believe will work best for you.

I thought the colors on these were really nice as well.

Remove the lids.....but first.

Add diced strawberries, vanilla, water and sugar to a saucepan. Stir constantly while bringing mixture to a rolling boil.

After mixture has come to a complete boil. Remove from heat and cool on ice while stirring.

Mixture will start to thicken once cooled.

Next up milk makes its grand entrance. One cup to be exact.

Pour milk in and gradually stir. No need to return to heat.

Use a large spoon to fill each mold with equal amounts of the strawberry mixture. Leave half an inch of air space for the sticks.

Be sure to add in any stray strawberries clinging to the bottom of the bowl.

Add the toppers and freeze for four to five hours. Once done you will have a super sweet delectable treat.

Painting Redux

Painting Redux

Check out my redux of a painting I found in my grandmothers garage. Gave it a little wash and a few coats of paint. Next, as per usual I scraped some of the paint off, because I'm always going for a rustic look ( on everything ). I think that it's really cool and a perfect little project. So I wanted to share.

Here's what you need:

Old painting.

If you don't have any old paintings hanging or hiding in garages. You should definitely check out local thrift shops and yard sales.

Regular acrylic paint or oil based if your fancy. I prefer to use Craft Smart paints on this because their quality and affordable.

Chalk

Paint your chosen picture with a lovely dash of color. A few coats will do the trick.

Finally, compliment your frame with color. Do this by marking a few sections of the frame with color chalk and smudge.

Quaint touch but worth it.

This truly is really quick and easy. Hope you all give it a go.

Easter Funday

Easter Funday

Hello,

Happy Easter everyone. Here's a look at the trove of sweets the GlitterZombies got into today. Lovely sweeties and gifts my mom got for our family to enjoy. Also, there may or may not have been an Easter egg hunt involved ( mind you none of us are kiddies).

The ultimate prize for winning the hunt.

Love these Heidel chocolates.

These were too cool.

Loved the kooky faces.

More sweets after the sweets.

Easter themed apple pie....that I made. Although my rabbit did look at bit poorly.

D.I.Y Daily

D.I.Y Daily

Hello,

As I do make hair accessories for loads of people everyday. It would stand to reason that I myself have quite a bit of hair doodles and bits ( and sometimes nowhere to put it all). So, I thought that it would be a really cool idea to think of a creative way to store them and share that with those who read this GlitterZombies babble. After hours of brainstorming. I came up with a really simple and easy little crafting project.

It's really similar to the cross ribbon message boards that people have in office areas or bedrooms. My theme as you may notice pulled inspiration from vintage puppet or marionette stages. I chose a really "Halloween" color scheme, but that's ok, I love Halloween and it's spooky kooky awesomeness. Take a moment to choose your favorite colors or a theme to match your current decor. Let's begin.

Step 1: Gather materials.

Paint of choice, brushes and decorative tape.

Foam or bristles?

An old board.

Pins

Step 2 : Base coat.

I chose white for my base and I didn't really go crazy with layers. I like the rustic white washed look.

Step 3: Tape and decorate.

Arrange the tape as you wish. Do something cool and interesting.

Step 4: More details are best !

Never mind if your painting work isn't Van Gogh esque. You can always go back later and fix all edges and any mistakes.

Finale: Add a plethora of amazing hair accessories goodness.

P.S. You can also attach ribbon to the back and hang on the wall.

Simple....no?

Vintage Trio

Vintage Trio

Hello,

Vintage clothing, at the current point in my life, is a major obsession. I love going on expeditions in vintage and second hand stores looking for one of a kind pieces. It's super cool discovering pieces from the past and giving them new life, by wearing them again.Below are two recent editions and one old favorite, from my seventies archive. I think that they are absolutely out of site. I love this type of clothing and I really do believe that every person should have at least one retro or vintage piece. Enjoy.
